I was drawn to the polyrhythms squeaked by the broken, coin-operated dryer that outside of my room. the day i chose to record them my roommate had been practicing trumpet. The piece that resulted weaves the pitches of the trumpet playing and the dryer’s rhythmic groove into a fragmented melody and polyrhythmic accompaniment that show off the technical facility of the soloist. I wrote this piece for my friend Elliot Godinez.
