Essence of Breath is a work that simply tries to capture the organic and visceral nature of breathing as a musical work. While there is use of pitch, the work focuses mostly on the breathing and vocal percussive effects. While working on this piece, I thought a lot about the power of breath—its capacity for calming oneself and creating physical power. This work is loosely inspired by the Relmyna Verenim quote.
