This work was written in March of 2020. At the time I had been playing tuba for about 5 months and hadn't written any music for a while. The job I had kept me so busy that writing and practicing wasn't something I had much time or energy for. I'd get home from an exhausting work day and a two hour commute each way and just collapse. The COVID-19 pandemic initially provided me with some space to clear my head before reimagining and changing my career path. This piece fell into my brain in the early days of that space as I lay on a blanket in my back yard enjoying the sunshine.
